(For English Version, click here) All the friends I receive at home love to look at my pantry and always play so I can go get theirs! After some customers asked me to help renew the pantry, I thought this post would be of great value. Everyone knows that I’m passionate about food and food that comes from nature, I love to cook, try recipes… The more I practice this, the happier and in peace I get my food and my health.
To be able to make all the recipes and be able to renew at home, having an organized pantry is essential, so I decided to open my house and show how I fix my pantry, with some tips on how to keep it always complete and tidy.
1. Get clean!
Take out all those foods you know don’t do you good or that suddenly it’s hard to resist (refined carbohydrates, products full of sugar or preservatives), and replace them with foods that are good for you (whole grains, seeds, nuts, etc)!
I usually offer this type of service, helping my customers to get rid of super processed foods that have an eternal shelf life (after all, real food doesn’t last that long, right?). done that, clean the shelves first and if you want, I like to use contact paper (type this) before placing the products.
2. Buy in bulk
In addition to being generally more affordable, you can choose exactly the amount you want, avoiding even waste at home. Then you can start storing your grains, seeds, nuts and etc, in vacuum-closed jars like Those. I love these glass jars because I can easily visualize what is about to end and I already include it in my market list. They preserve food well, just close it properly. 3. Label
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it helps me a lot to put the name of some grains, even more so because some can be very similar. I also like to put dates, if I do something that is perishable, like a cashew nut cheese, for example. It’s easy to know even when it’s ok to consume. I usually keep the same foods in the same pots, I just fill what is ending.
4. First you enter, first you leave!
If you buy many units of the same food, try to arrange them on the shelf according to the expiration date, positioning those closest to the expiration date on the front and easily accessible. Eggs, for example, I always buy weekly, but I always have left over the other week, so I leave the new box under the old one, so I finish consuming the old one! The same I do with grains, nuts and etc. Freshest is positioned behind the oldest.
5. Optimize space
In addition to transferring the plastic ingredients to the glass jars, I also use shelf organizers, such as this one or the one that turns. It’s easier to see ingredients that are at the bottom of the shelf and guarantee you more space to store what you need!
6. Keep the stock up to date!
Because it is in favor of a varied diet, where testing recipes is part of my lifestyle (the same I encourage my patients to do), it is essential that you have the basic ingredients to venture into recipes! Of course it won’t be overnight, but as I risked new recipes, with different ingredients, I started to include more and more ingredients in my pantry. Healthy oils, assorted seeds, variety of salts (pink, marine, with herbs, etc.), grains, nuts, spices, spices and so on…
This was a little peek at how I keep my pantry! Take the opportunity to discover some foods that I post weekly in pantry session! I hope it serves as an inspiration for those looking for a healthy lifestyle, full of new foods and adventures with different ingredients. Use your creativity, browse my blog, make some recipes, also seek inspiration from other blogs, websites and books, but never be content with the sameness in your meals!
Thanks for visiting!! Any questions or comments will be more than welcome! 😉
