I’ve always liked peanut butter, but I’ve never been in the habit of consuming it in my daily life, until I moved to California. On my last trip to Brazil (a week ago), I discovered how expensive it is for a 150g pot of peanut butter and at the time I saw the need to make a post to explain how easy it is to make at home.
My sister went to the Lapa market, in São Paulo, and with the same amount she paid in a 200g pot ($15.00), we bought 1 kg of peanuts without shell and gave us almost 1 kg of peanut butter! That is, for the same price, we made much more peanut butter! Even the girl down there was happy, begging for a little…
Peanuts are very rich in proteins, more than any oilseed, as well as being great for bones because they have a lot of folate! It is also one of the best sources of resveratrol in our food, a powerful antioxidant (the same present in red wine and dark grapes), reducing the inflammation caused in the arteries by bad cholesterol, being an important cardiac protector, in addition to being able to prevent against premature aging.
Like any food rich in fat, it is worth mentioning that the amount must be controlled, avoiding excesses. Athletes or people In order to increase muscle mass, the consumption of peanuts can be used more freely.
I always recommend looking for organic peanuts or that have a seal from the Pró-Pandoim Foundation (see more here), to ensure that the quality is good and avoids the presence of a toxic substance called aflatoxin, found in a type of fungus.
The recipe requires only one ingredient: peanuts! You can give some special touches, including sea salt, cinnamon, honey and etc. But, in my opinion, the ideal is to make it pure to give you more freedom on how to use this folder. I can already say that in the first moments you start to crush the peanuts, you will have the feeling that it will not work and will end up becoming a paçoca. very calm! Continue grinding and helping to push the sides with a spatula! I promise that one hour you will arrive in a wonderful folder!
