Increasingly popular, avocado is gaining space in the kitchens and recipes of those who are looking for a healthier and more natural diet! In addition to the flavor and beauty of its color, it can be used both in sweet and savory recipes. This food also brings several properties that contribute to the promotion and maintenance of our health!
I will share with you the main benefits and to share my favorite recipes to include this fruit in your routine!
reasons to consume
#01 – Rich in fiber
In a small portion of avocado (100g), we have more than 6g of fiber. Fibers play an important role in the proper functioning of our gut and also function as a prebiotic for the good bacteria that inhabit our body. In addition, it contributes to the control of the sugar level in our blood and its consumption is related to improvements in type II diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
#02 – good fat source
Many people still relate fat as something negative and that should be avoided in food, but the truth is that fats of plant origin, especially when not subjected to high temperatures (when we don’t get too hot), bring thousands of vitamins and antioxidants. Therefore, when consumed daily, they can be key ingredients to prevent premature aging, cardiovascular diseases, in addition to studies suggesting consumption in helping to prevent cancer and weight loss.
#03 – Improves nutrient absorption
Avocado works as a facilitator for the absorption of some nutrients, because some vitamins and minerals are fat-soluble, that is, they depend on fat to be absorbed. For example, vitamin A, D, E and K, alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and lutein (lemon-yellow carotenoid present in some vegetables, such as spinach, zucchini, cauliflower, pea, broccoli..etc).
#04 – Source of phytonutrients
In a small portion of abacate we find about 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients (isoflavonas, carotenoids, flavonoids and terpenes) are bioactive compounds which have as the main function to reduce oxidative stress and the formation of free radicals in the body, Thus protecting our cells and optimizing the functioning of our body, thus avoiding the dreaded premature aging.
For being so dense nutritionally it is considered a super food!
#05 – Low sugar content
The fruits naturally carry in their composition sugar (fructose) and avocados appear almost with an exception in this rule, since the amount of sugar present in their composition is very small.
