This is one of my favorite sauce recipes and I make it very often at home! I got this recipe from one of my favorite restaurants here in California, Cafe Gratitude. Basil, in addition to guaranteeing a unique flavor and aroma, also works as a natural anti-inflammatory, cardiac protector and also has a bronchodilator effect. It is a great source of vitamin K, magnesium, zinc, calcium and antioxidant compounds.

Basil has always been used in Ayurweda, traditional medicine from India, for treatment against gastritis, anti-inflammatory and respiratory diseases, anxiety and high blood pressure.. This article talks a lot about the properties, if you want to research.

I love mixing this recipe with quinoa, pasta, or include in fish. This recipe doesn’t go cheese like most, but chestnuts (I use chestnut paste) guarantee a special touch.
